Review: I Hate My Friends E.P. – Young English

The Sound: Overall, this album is extremely well put together. Every aspect of every song mixes perfectly with the other parts, and ever song is extremely catchy. One thing that is noticeable almost immediately is the pop-punk-ish sound, but with more raw guitar. There’s also a nice touch of post-hardcore, which adds the the heavier side of their music. The guitar gives off more of a hardcore feeling, with the fast strumming and nice distortion. This can be found on all of the songs, and is one part of what sets Young English apart from other bands of similar sound. 8.5/10

Neighbors: This song is a superb intro track because it’s fast, energy-packed, and catchy. It’s a song that makes it hard to not want to be in the crowd at one of their shows. The drums are fast, complicated, and interesting – they’re always changing. The guitar line is so much more than just regular chord-strumming, which shows a large amount of creativity. The bass is less noticeable, but is definitely a huge part of this track, because it really just adds to the overall sound of the song. Unlike some other pop-punk songs it actually changes, which again shows creativity. There’s also some yelling mixed in with the vocals, as well as singing. These two put together make this song enjoyable for more than one group of music lovers. 9/10
