Review: Drop The Act (Acoustic) by Audiostrobelight

A little while ago we did a review of an album called The Whole Shebang by a band called Audiostrobelight. They have redone a song from their album (Drop The Act to be specific), and this time – they’re going acoustic. This song is like wine, it gets better with age (I mean you’ll like it in the beginning and you’ll love it by the end). They have even thrown in a drum solo in the middle and trust me, you’ll like it. Unless you don’t like acoustic songs, then you should already know your opinion by reading the title. They close this masterpiece with gang vocals that sound off in the distance and it gives the song a great atmosphere. The vocals behind the lead vocals, mixed with clapping in the background is where I think the song hits its climax. It’s definitely worth downloading and if it’s your first time hearing Audiostrobelight, check them out and buy their album…if you want to (you do).

Review: The Whole Shebang [EP] – Audiostrobelight

The Sound: When I put The Whole Shebang on my iTunes to start writing the review, the genre was labeled as “High Energy”. I don’t care how cliche this sounds, but there is no better way to describe Audiostrobelight’s music. This album is impressive, full of the energy, and will make many people want to purchase tickets to the nearest place this band is playing. Every song on this magnificent LP has the potential to make you sweat, by either jumping, singing along to the catchy choruses, or moshing to the breakdowns. If moving around and sweating isn’t your thing, Audiostrobelight has also added some relaxing, quieter parts to songs (for that check out “Drop The Act”). Some of the things that really make this band (and album!) stick out is the mandolin and violin that’s added into most of the songs. Another unique part of Audiostrobelight’s music is the use of synthesizers and piano. It greatly impacts the music, and makes every song complete. If I had to give Audiostrobelight a genre, it definitely wouldn’t just be pop-punk. They are definitely more alternative, pop-punk, popcore/easycore, with a touch of post-hardcore. So for pop punk and violin mixed, there’s Yellowcard, but for the “High Energy” genre (a mix of every genre listed above), I have Audiostrobelight. It can definitely be said that they have their own thing going and that they stand out in the music industry. There’s no doubt in my mind that Audiostrobelight can make it big. If you a fan of anything that was just broken down , then go listen to them. 9/10 Read more of this post

Interview: Audiostrobelight

AUDIOSTROBELIGHT is a band hailing from Virginia, that mixes many genres, including pop, rock, pop-punk, easycore, and dance.

Can be compared to: Yellowcard, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy

You can find them on: MySpace, Facebook, and on their website.

What band would you say you sound the most similar to?

All of us agree that we kind of hate trying to pick a band that we sound the most similar to.  We get different answers from everyone we ask and we really feel like whenever we pick a band there are five reasons why we sound nothing like that band. The cool thing about Audiostrobelight is we don’t sound like any one band, we are kind of a patch-work quilt of the pop-rock community.

How did you come up with the title “You’re Not Funny You Stupid Clown”?

There’s a completely offensive and inappropriate story involving strippers and clowns that leads to this song title! You should ask Scott in person if you want the details.

How did you guys become a band?

Audiostrobelight was started from a love of music, pure and simple. We started as friends who ran a concert promotion company in our home town. We’d booked our favorite local bands to play shows all over town for years. For the last show we booked, we decided to put a band together to celebrate all the good times we had in it. We threw a few songs together, played the show, and had a total blast. We knew we couldn’t just do it once. Never really looked back from that point on.
